Selling kindling woodAs I am stony broke, I was thinking of selling small bunches of kindling. We live on a Trailway so quite a few people walking/cycling by each day. I thought a bunch just big enough for lighting the fire and so easy to carry.
How much would be a reasonable price - I thought 75p perhaps?
any ideas?

People will buy anything, if they have a need for it. I'd charge either 50p or £1 though. You'll have to keep a lot of annoying change if it's 75p. Or try 99p, and keep a bag of 1p
You're not selling a bunch of wood, you're selling the convenience of someone having a bunch of kindling ready to go on their fire.
Go for it!

Yep. As long as you aren't too far from people's homes or cars I can see that definitely working. And what Penny said about the money.
Would you have an honesty box or would they have to knock on your door?

Think I'd opt for 50p and hope that they might buy two for £1

I used to buy kindling wood from a retired chap who used to get unwanted pallets and chop them up. You could buy bundles tied with string, or big clear polythene bags of it. I got it direct from him, but he used to sell it to all the green grocers and corner shop/village store type places around. It was jolly useful. All the best

perhaps market research is called for?
I can't see the petrol stations selling it for less than a quid a bag - I guess all you've got to do is undercut them, as they're the next most convenient outlet?

Found this. How many fires do you reckon you could light with those?

Tie a bundle of twigs with proper twine and embellish with a spray of dried leaves or a pine cone. Market as "traditional firelighting faggots". Price at £2 each, 3 for £5.

Agree - a tiny bit of effort from you and you can charge more

Thanks y'all. We will get going tomorrow as snow is forecast - not sure it will reach Dorset though!

PLEASE don't use plastic milk bottles to light your fire!!!
Burning plastic releases all sorts of toxins - you may not notice sitting by the fire, but your neighbours are having to breathe the stuff you're chucking out of your chimney!
