That looks cracking! Hope it bring in lots of visitors.

Are you a fibre-y person yourself?
mochyn

Sigh. If it wasn't so far away and so expensive to get there I'd love to go.

Me? Fibre-y? Veritably made of the stuff lol Yes I am, very much so - knitting, spining, weaving, dyeing, felting, quilting, patchwork, lucet, embroidery, sewing, dressmaking, you name it.............

Am saving up furiously and hoping to go; I have a friend up there which would help things, but would go anyway even if she couldn't put me up. I may never return is the 'danger'. Am aiming to end up on Shetland in the not too distant, permanently. Very Happy

maybe we need a Downsizer road trip, whats the cheapest way to get to Shetland, and how many of us can we organize to bring costs down further? Nicky Colour it green

I'd love to go to Shetland

We bought some Shetland ewes this year, and have been having a lovely time playing with the wool. Started a whole interest in the knitting styles etc Smile

This is scary. I was thinking just the same yesterday.

Do you think there might be just one DS brain: a sort of hive mind thingy?
crofter

whats the cheapest way to get to Shetland,

Probably by ferry, 14 hour journey from Aberdeen. October possibly not the best month to travel if you are susceptible to seasickness...
Luath

Need to get to Aberdeen from Dorset............. and other places Laughing Would love the 14 hour ferry, though, brilliant Cool Nicky Colour it green

yeh the getting to Aberdeen bit from here is a long haul crofter

You can fly Exeter - Aberdeen for 155 pounds return. Possibly cheaper than driving, unless you fill the car.
sally_in_wales

We could probably fill a minibus or peoplecarrier between us starting somewhere like Exeter- then stopping at sensible intervals between there and Aberdeen to collect people and visit unsuspecting Downsizers over a couple of days Laughing Then hop on the ferry for wool week, and zigzag back down the country calling in at other downsizers or places of interest. Call it a 2 week round trip probably. Luath

No flying here. crofter

No flying here.

After you have suffered for 14 hours on that ferry, you will be glad to fly!
Luath

Nope. I am ferry woman Cool Laughing Never have flown, never will. crofter

14 hours is a long time in weather like this... especially if a 14 hour crossing becomes 24 hours puke_r

If more than 1 person wants it, I can order & then send stuff separately. NorthernMonkeyGirl
