Sourcing ethical merino woolIt seems like everyone loves the old merino wool but I have grave reservations about the methods used to produce it. I love the softness of it but I can't bring myself to buy any more. Is there anywhere I can buy some ethically produced merino?

I had no idea about the problems until quick google. It shows up musling ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulesing ).
Are there no smallholder or bread groups that would not tollerate such treatment and are there no European producers?

Might be worth raising this with Wingham Wool Works, they are a major supplier to craft users in this country and they may know more about their own supplies and options http://www.winghamwoolwork.co.uk/

Neither did I until someone brough it up on another site last year. I was waxing lyrical about how well my sheep are treated and that PETA bang on about things they don't understand. Someone posted some links and big slice of humble pie with my name on it was duly scoffed
I already have some that I'd bought before I realised what the score was and I feel I ought to use it up but I can't justify buying any more. It goes against all my principles for my own animals. It'd feel like buying a battery chicken
