It does. You mustn't squeeze or cause them to regurgitate their stomach contents into your blood. We have at least one case of Lyme disease in town probably contracted locally. |

the spray stuff that has benzocaine in a cooling propellant (tm wasp ease etc ) will ease the itch but more importantly if sprayed on the tick will render it inert making simple to twist off without squashing its insides into the victim.
spray, give it 30 secs to fully take effect ,remove tick |

I've removed quite a few ticks and they don't seem to wiggle much. All the tick advice I've read is do nothing to the tick other than remove it by its head; spraying, smearing, singing etc with anything may make it vomit it's stomach contents into the host.
As for twisting I'm sure I was advised anti-clockwise at some point but the tick removal tools I've got say it doesn't matter. |

@dpack - brilliant tip, thank you. I wish I had known that last night when trying to remove one from himself's stomach (bleurch) after a day in the woods yesterday.
@others - where do you get these tick-removing-tool-thingies? I think I am going to need one this summer :-/ Downsizer - always brilliant! |
