how long could you expect to wait before hens go broody (silkies) sorry if this is a silly question but im new to chickens

Not sure about Silkies and we only have three Sussex hens. Two went broody in the second year and one, Ginger, has gone broody twice in the last couple of years.

Our cross bred chicks from last year were broody this year, 3 out of five of them.
Don't know about Silkies.
