Just caught Elvis Costello on Desert Island Disks and realise that even thought I loved his music in the 80's I have none of his CD's.

Any recommedations, 'must haves'?
Has anyone heard his current offerings?

I love his early stuff best My Aim Is True and This Year's Model, although The Very Best Of Elvis Costello and the Attractions (Demon Records) is excellent too.

King of America is excellent.
I used to sell champagne to Elvis.
The Demon Records compilation is a good one.
Edit: Just checked, the one that I have is called Elvis Costello. The Man. The Best of Elvis Costello, so it may be different from the one that Penny's talking about.

Blimey, lots to choose from.

Wonder what the odds are that my Mum has actually heard of him when she asks what I want for Christmas

She's probably heard of the *other* Elvis.

That was a pile of poop, the Bacharach collaboration wasn't much better. Learning how to read music did nothing for his recorded output.

I've got this one.
Either would be good. Dunno if they're still available anyway.

I think most of his well known stuff is on Elvis Costello - The First 10 Years CD.

Just looked and there is one available on ebay for 99p at the moment.

I heard him on Radio 2 must admit I really like a lot of his stuf and 'a good year for the roses' puts lump in my throat and a tear in my eye - but shamefully I don't have a single album of his
