How old are they exactly?

If under eight weeks, chick crumb, but NOT the stuff with ACS in (just ask when you buy it) as they eat so much they OD on it.

If over eight weeks, growers pellets, ditto, no ACS.

Washing up bowl of water or a paddling pool - not bigger or heavier than you can lift up and tip out daily. On of those plastic skep things would be ideal - the half-height ones.

Bedding on the floor of the little house (is it still in the same place?). They will probably need herding in to bed the first few nights.

They are creatures of habit.

Feed. Give fresh water. Watch puddle around. Enjoy.

No. See earlier 'hung over when I had the Duck Conversation' comment . Give them porridge or layers pellets or something like that tonight - something generic. They like to dibble their food out of water, too - sprinkle wheat in their washing-up bowl and watch them fish for it.

What sort of bedding? Straw? Wood shavings? Hemp?
I can't get them in the house tonight - not on my own. They seem to have settled and snuggled under a pice of metal leaning on the hen house and seem perfectly happy there.

All of those would be fine. I have started putting a couple of inches in the bottom. It seems to work okay. Can you pick them up and put them in when it's got dark? Then they'll start to learn?

I've put down some mixed corn on the ground - is that okay for tonight? Or shall I go and add some porridge oats/pellets to their water as well?

They just seem terrified at the moment, so I thought I'd wait until tomorrow and then pen them in a bit tighter with the house in there too.

If they're not peeping I expect they're okay. Have they been ranging round the paddock this afternoon? They're probably full, if so.
