If they're not peeping I expect they're okay. Have they been ranging round the paddock this afternoon? They're probably full, if so.

Well, they peep when I turn up, but are quiet the rest of the time. They've pottered around this afternoon a bit I think.

In my experience, ducklings do tend to behave as if they are terrified when you go close to them. So don't pay too much attention to them, they're faking you out

Wait until about 9, and with a bamboo cane in each hand, to extend your arms just round them into the house. It is worth imprinting on them where home is.

Don't let them out until 9 - 9.30, once they are laying, and you will have eggs in the house, rather than in the garden somewhere. Automatic pophole if you are at work.

I call mine from the field, then follow them to the house, at night, and then round them in.

What do the dogs think of them?

They are six weeks old. The drake is the noisier one. I forgot that you might not have food.

whilst they are little, make sure there is a brick/large stone in the washing up bowl so that they can get themselves out again, or they will tire themselves out and drown.

......and enjoy

'Here ducks!' is the usual cry around here as dusk settles.

You'll soon get the hang of it, otherwise 180* c for 45mins.

Nah - they're in their house. Katieowl came over to give me a hand (rather insistently) and we bunged 'em in the house with some snuggly straw
