With concrete I've scraped off with a spade. Might damage tarmac.

I use a hoe, effective, slightly less aggressive.

Our drive used to have a lovely growth of moss & sedum, but when we had builders in they managed to kill it all off with cement, skip lorries, wheel barrows & sweeping up. So it went all grey & boring. It's only just starting to come back after 4 years.

jeyes isn't good for animals it can be absorbed through the pads.

If you use it you make sure the area is well flushed after.

Salt and a stiff yard brush and good olde elbow grease

@WVG, make sure vegplot doesn't do it on full power, it'll lift the tarmac never mind clear the moss

I know, he's done it here!!

so, the plan is you need a break your trapped nerve has been palaying up and I offer a quiet weekend of food and drink and you decide to spend it blasting moss off my drive yeah an ideal rest I would think!!!

I can manage a power washer I even have one, trouble is the damn stuff just comes straight back and its slippy and I'm worried our guests will fly out of the B&B not ideal.

I was planning on watching someone else do it.

It will grow back again quite quickly though you need to find a way of delaying that.

Perhaps you have to resign yourself to getting out the hoe every once in a while after you've done a blitz to get rid of most of it.

I've heard it said that fitting copper to the top of a roof kills moss. Not sure if it works, and I also heard that the copper can get into water courses in sufficient quantity to be hazardous to the environment. Not sure of the truth of either claim - it's one of those things I never got round to looking into in more detail (although it would possibly have been quicker than my six-monthly sweeping of our roof).

Might be worth looking into - I believe the idea would be that you could run a copper strip across the top of the drive, and the rain would wash enough copper down the drive to keep the moss at bay. As I said, I never looked into whether it actually works or not.

jeyes fluid is poisenous to cats as far as I know, its banned from our place. Boris would not dream of getting/using anything that would harm the cats or the wildlife.
I have heard that Armillatox does for moss and as our drive is green in places and rather tatty tarmac I shall follow Castle Farm's advice and try it.I get problems with moss growing on the fenders on the boat so will try it for that job as well. The pressure wash cleans them up a bit but doesn't shift the lot, moss is very tenacious.
