sounds a great project ,end grain is ace
the subfloor needs to be perfect and the fitters need skill and experience
done well and avoiding accident it will last for ever
im not sure if they still exist but bancourts had some good skills on their books when i subbied for them
i like the do it well ,do it once attitude

ps mango is too good for flooring ,it makes great drums

Been away a while, so only just catching up.

What a fantastic sounding floor! Deffo want to see pics when they're laid, Tahir. I think a random mix should work even for a large area, I'm thinking along the lines of the "neutral" mixes of small square wall-tiles that you see in some kitchens, and how well that works, so can't see why it wouldn't work for flooring in wood.

That's the hall and study which are in mixed timber, the living room is in hornbeam. He's started sanding today, should be finished by the end of next week

The floor is pretty damn good. Unlike the concrete floor in the kitchen which is shocking.
