You can make a very nice lip balm just by melting together beeswax and almond oil (start roughly 50:50, but be prepared to fiddle with the proportions to get the texture you want), a couple of drops of essential oil, being careful to choose a safe one, make it extra yummy.

Maple syrup is gorgeous in lipbalm. I'll try and remember to post a recipe. I'll probably forget, though (was it me the first time?!)

i make lipbalm using this recipe
the oil at the end is completely taste/use dependant
ie-peppermint to make an iced wintermint balm etc
this makes a nice texture balm that can be put in pots or twist up tubes
its a very protective & soothing balm

15g cosmetic grade beeswax
25g shea butter
15g cocoa butter
33ml sweet almond oil
10 drops oil

melt the cocoa butter 1st, i use a bain marie (this can be made in a microwave but i have never, you would use short 10 second bursts if you did)
use as little heat as poss to avoid damaging the butter, stir in the beeswax, and melt i use a chopstick to stir with, when melted add shea butter and stir until melted take from the heat and add almond oil, add flavouring oil & allow to cool slightly before before transferring to containers, it will go slightly opaque, pour then or it will set

I have loads of beeswax that needs something clever doing with it so as part of the Mid-winter hampers I've decided to make lip balm

My question is where is the best place to buy almond oil and the little tins from? I've seen some on Amazon

Tins:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Aluminium-Capacity-Empty-Small-Cosmetic/dp/B0082DAJKI/ref=lh_ni_t

Almond Oil:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/500ml-Sweet-Almond-Oil-Pressed/dp/B004RGOCZM/ref=pd_sim_kh_5

But I've no idea whether that is a good price?

that seems quite expensive, bear with me just a moment. I often get almond oil ine th supermarkt or global supermarket, but I'll just check an online supplier I use...

yep, try the soapkitchen /www.soapkitchenonline.co.uk/ their almond oil is £3.35 for the same size, and the tins are £5.75 for 10 or 50 for just over £24. They do all the other things like cosmetic glitter if you feel so inclined as well

Maple syrup? Oh goodness, sounds like I'd be smacking my lips and raising my blood sugar! Pure maple syrup is so yummy, and so much better than those flavored corn syrup types.

WW, you've got me to thinking about a project! All I need is the recipe
