i heard a conversation tonight that adds to my opinion the jist of it is this
when the rspca kennels nearly got flooded last year they asked the council social workers to foster mutts if needs be but when various doggy folk rang up offering help they were politely told that there was no problem

i make a bad enemy but a good friend and i feel they chose the wrong one as i do care about the prevention of cruelty

hillside (who are sweet)have a low opinion of them as well

https://www.hillside.org.uk/

it is such a shame that a lot of good will is lost by such actions from an organisation with plenty of cash and a high profile cos what matters is critters get decent treatment

The trouble with the RSPCA is that head office gets the money and does the political stuff (which is a whole other argument); but it's the little local branches that do the good work on the ground - the shelters and voucher schemes and so on, often funded by a lone charity shop.

the local centre has a huge kennel ,many paid staff etc etc and an odd attitude to those who know about mutts.

we have found a candidate ,he is a saluki boy about 18monthts old ,he seems to match what we need and we seem to match what he needs .im waiting for the home visitor to be arranged but the details we sent them are ok and the info i got from his fosterer was good so fingers and paws crossed ,he will be a new family member .

we havnt met him yet but

he does seem a nice chap but if not him we will keep looking

he is quite big( 27kg )and judging by ki who grew until she was 3 1/2yrs he will get a bit bigger .

he has had parvo as a pup and survived through the good care of lurcher link folk.

his fosterer wanted to keep him but cannot through ill health wich is sad but if he does come to us he will have a nice home and a "queen"to keep him in line

ive just thought of a downside in that going out with ki takes extra time as she attracts quite a few folk who want to say hello ,with two i recon it will take even longer
