Please does anyone know of a source for coloured dyed leather that's fairly thick?

I have a bracelet I bought a couple of years ago, it cost next to nothing and my d-I-l wanted a similar one. I found one on line that looked the same but it's such a disappointment. I'm thinking that if I could source the leather I could do a better job myself!

How thick is fairly thick? I have some green which I will look out if you can tell me how thick you need it to be, and of course how much you need.

Thank you dpack. Offcuts would be excellent. 2.5 - 3mm thick. Strip length 8". (Sorry to be mixing the mm with the inches!!!) Colours anything pretty!! Mine is a forest green but am open to anything really especially while I'm experimenting!!

Thank you too sally for your suggestion, I'll take a look

if you only need small amounts in several colours you might also find it cheaper to get an undyed piece and dye sections, leather tends to be sold by the square foot, so unless you can get a bag of offcuts, that may prove most cost effective

I'll hunt it down and see what size it is. Sizes can come to me how you like as I'm bi-lingual in measuring-ex timber trade! As a matter of interest, can leather be successfully glued together, ie, it will stay together and if so what's the product to achieve the said gluing-please.

Thanks sally. Hope I can get some colours as I haven't a clue about dyeing leather! Had a look at the site you suggested and there are some strips on there which might do. I'll be asking again if I have to dye!

If you've got anything suitable to spare that would be great. Happy to pay for them. Haven't a clue about glueing leather I'm afraid. That will be my next question!

I'll start a leather hunt tonight, cost will be postage.
If anyone knows of a glue for leather I really would like to know.

depends what you want it to do, sole glue is different from glue for tacking pieces together or for bookbinding, just for starters https://www.leprevo.co.uk/adhesives.htm

Son has started doing leather work and visited La Prevo recently. It seems to be a 'traditional must be somewhere' sort of place from what her said, although they seem to have everything.

Veg tan leather is very expensive by the sounds of things. I am living in hopes that he will make me a belt for Christmas or birthday though.
