Port of Lancaster Smokehouse
here and on amazon
i just got my third or forth delivery, it started with a fish from a farmers market
ace products, good prices, good range
this time the duck breasts were at size rather than huge, the cod roes are well over size, 2 large and one "ms cod must have been a big un"
i got trouts rather than platters, upgrade substitution
i will let you know about the black puds
as my old time fish folk have died of brexit this crew seem to know how to smoke and deliver
best kippers still goes to whitby, but they do not deliver(or sell in bulk)
for fresh, Cross who are local are ok , and sometimes have special things if you get there at the right time |

the big girl roe weighed in at 584 gm
i have caught a few fish, and bought a few, that was a bigun
before salting and smoking it may have been ova a kilo, and it is only half her total roe
--------------------------------
shhh but, trout roe , a little lemon juice, a little salt, a few hours,
very nice
ps my trout stream was over run with them and a free water, yum
---------------------
imho
good cod roe is better than caviar, and far better than pretend caviar, be that vegan or lumpfish etc
--------------
none of the above are good for the fish directly involved in a net or at the kitchen end of things
if it does help fisherfolk to make their livelihood sustainable neither they nor i will not run out of fish
some fish we eat, some get eaten by watery companions before or after breeding
hunting pt one, a wisely frugal harvest will be a reliable harvest
unsustainable is silly, some fishers know that |
