Planted my first potatoes last Sunday - variety Rocket - couldn't resist them when I went into Wilkos for the bogof 39p seeds.
I've put then in a large pot and into the propogator in the greenhouse. This has got a double glazed top and I have wrapped foil covered fibre glass insulation around the sides. I am hoping the 11 Watt propogator tray in it will be enough to keep it frost free next week when winter finally arrives.
Okay is rocket. Its got a short 'window of opportunity' when its got a lovely new potato taste, but even after that its still pleasant. Really prolific, I found, and very bushy.
There are better first earlies, but of the ones I've tried I think rocket gave me the biggest yields.

I gew Scottish Rocket the other year - great returns and very tasty. I think rocket are supposed to be a bit more resistant to blight as well - don't know if it's true or not.
