I'm trying to work out a fair hire charge for a (charcoal fuelled) spit roasting kit to hire out with our pig sales. How much do people pay/expect to pay for such things?

Pricey's the person to ask about this. He hired one last summer for his birthday bash, but I can't remember how much it cost

Well it'll be collection, with the pig. Also factoring in a returnable deposit for cleaning. And a two-tier rate if you don't buy the pig from us

Got plenty of quotes like that, a bit vague for sending to a customer though

Hmmm, anyone with just a 'here's your pig, there's your spit, get on with it' sort of service? I've been looking on the net but can't find anything that fits the bill.

I paid £50 last year, delivered, and collected, and I cleaned it until spotless again, as that is how it came. This was a gas fired one, but I think I had mates rates, as Debbie organised it with her butcher.

You cant remember because it didn't cost anything, it was my friend's mum's

She hires them for £75 for the day, but they are the gas ones as well. Sorry I can't help any more.

Thanks all, I'm looking at about £25 if you buy our pig (more accurately £25 added to the price of the pig & have the 'spit on me' ), £50 for the spit on its own
