Don't see why not - sounds like the sort of support they need.

Worth posting on other sites too I reckon. Sounds like they need to chat to a planning consultant, they don't come cheap

I got this response on another site:

"The trouble is from the governments point of view, they must deliver on
time and cant afford to let anything get in their way. Basically they
aint going to take any prisoners over this hence the tactics. I would
advise contacting planning aid, Friends of the earth and a few small
local pressure groups as a starting point the following link is a press
release of what can be achieved
https://www.foe.co.uk/resource/press_releases/high_court_orders_develope_30062006.html

Hope it helps

Chris"

Latest from Manor Allotments

Dear Supporters,

As you may know, we are in the process of writing objections to the
ODA's Planning Application.

We have until the 19th March to send our objections to the ODA.
However, the application is still being put onto the Internet and is
therefore not readily available to those with limited mobility, or who
work 9am-5pm, when the application is available to view at the ODA
offices. There is also a cost of £25 pounds if people wish to request
a full copy of the application on CD, and £500 if you want it on
paper. These are all factors prohibiting many people from viewing the
plans that are supposed to be in the public domain.

Please can you e-mail the ODA at: planning.enquiries@pdt.oda.gov.uk
and ask for an extension to the consultation period, to at least 4
weeks from when the documents are fully uploaded onto the Internet. In
your letter please state that you have had insufficient time to view
the Planning Application because

1. You are not able to get to the ODA offices within the opening times;
2. You are not able to afford the cost of viewing the Planning
Application on paper or on CD;
3. You are not able to view the whole Planning Application on the
Internet, as it has not been fully uploaded yet.

Please can you also cc your e-mail to MPs and Coucliors.

Best wishes,
Manor Garden Allotments Campaign.

Dear Supporters,

For those of you who intend to act on the e-mail below (sent
yesterday), but have not yet done so, please can you make sure your
letter is in your own words, or it counts as one objection. You can
also use your own objections to the time limitation, such as the size
of the documents, or it wasn't available to view the day you were
available to view it, since it is not online yet. Please feel free to
use the attached letter as a guide (it does not need to be as detailed
as this letter, bullet points are fine).

You are requesting an extension for the period of consultation for the
Planning Applications:

Well that didn't work then. We need some ecowarriors (of what ever gender) down there I think.

I had my response through this morning as well, I doubt that they ever intended to listen to allotmenteers or the public in the first place, the government want this Olympics at any cost, monetry, history community they don't care, this will come back to bite them on the butt.

They are going to provide a temporary area for the allotments - this proves they haven't a clue what they are talking with - temporary allotment what about aspargus strawberries friut bushes - anthing that needs more than one season will be out of the question grrr

I also think the name of the area to be created 'The Legacy Park' will turn out to be somewhat ironic as it will not be the glorious legacy the gov. are expecting more of an expensive disaster but Tony won't be bothered as he will be long gone with a cushy number at the Carlyle Group or World Bank

That's probably all we could really expect. Very much a case of "we hear what you're saying but don't give a damn"

That's summed up all of my experience of the number 10 website petitions so far.

It's much more effective to write to ones MP I think.

PRESS RELEASE - IMMEDIATE - 16/7/2007

After Manor Garden Allotments won concessions from the LDA by threatening Judicial Review embarrassment, plotholders redouble their efforts to persuade the authorities of the value of incorporating the allotments as a showcase for sustainability principles.

Media interest has increased again with ITV, BBC, Channel 4, Associated Press and France 2 TV continuing to broadcast features.

NEXT FEATURED ON ITV “TONIGHT – OLYMPIC BACKLASH” 8pm Monday 16th July

The public remain bewildered by the gap between the claims of sustainability and the reality of the total demolition taking place.

The Olympic authorities and the Mayor refuse to acknowledge that their plan will destroy these 100 year old gardens and community, preferring words ‘save’ and ‘relocate’ – which for the plotholders means being bulldozed and forced to start from scratch in a contaminated field.

Outside ITV studios at the recent ‘London Debate’, Mayor Ken Livingstone promised to visit Manor Gardens but has subsequently ignored further communications.

Despite security and health and safety concerns having being used as reasons why the allotments could not be cultivated through to 2012, newly introduced access arrangements prove otherwise.
