Just picked my first blackberries and plums from the hedgerows for this season - delicious

Same here! Although the blackberries round here were supprisingly small for the amount of rain we have had. I suppose it is very early into the season.

We had our first blackberry yesterday - the rest are catching up but aren't quite ready yet.

I'm just outside Dartford (

) - there are only a few ripe blackberries but the rest do not look too far off ready. As for the plums looks like it could be a good crop for the earlies - just when I haven't got the time to pick and cook them as we are in the throws of starting to move house. I also struggle with what to do with plums as hubbie and son No 1 get the runs when they eat them and son No2 doesn't really like them so that only leaves me and I am trying very hard not to eat puddings and jam ... and there is ony so much plum chutney I can get through. I suppose I need to swap them for somethig we all like.

isn't this early for blackberries? ours are early - almost ripe. And has anyone else notices th rowan trees? absolutely laden with fruit - the branches are being pulled down with it...isn't that early too??

Rowans pretty much ripe, as are plums and the first blackberries. Blackberries slightly early, the others are pretty normal for these parts.
