Well, I didn't get around to making ice cream cones, or Easter eggs, or even eating either of them, so today I've treated myself to making chocolate rice krispies, and with a chocolate coated bowl I thought I'd experiment with an idea for chocolate sauce I once saw on the electric television set.

They said, you can mix a sugar syrup with melted chocolate and it will mix nicely and not go grainy. I didn't do any measurements, but it does work - just keep beating after the first horrible minute when it looks like washing up water.

However, I'd suggest (a) you use dark chocolate and (b) go easy on the proportion of syrup to chocolate. But it doesn't go grainy, and I've put it the fridge, and it looks pretty convincing. It would probably mix nicely with cream if you felt the consistency wasn't right, but I suspect being just chocolate sugar and water it would keep quite well in the fridge.

Worth an experiment anyway. Now if someone would like to test the ice cream cone recipe we could be set for a nice summer

Now I'm torn, do I go and finish digging the garden or do I finish making the cherry liquer chocolates that I started soaking two days ago.

I was good, I went and finished the digging, when I got back inside himself had taken over the 'puter playing with his new scanner.

The Cherry Chocolates are a bit of an experiment. I had a tub of glace cherries that needed using up so they have been soaking for 3 days in small pots with just enough apple schnapps to cover them.

Today I will take them out, dry them off and coat them in melted chocolate and leave them in the pantry to set.

Then I will attempt taste testing

I'm not eating them yet

I devoured the rest of my easter egg and a Crunchie so I had had my chocolate ration for the day.

But now it's not day any more. And I bet they're only little. And they're mostly fruit

I am actually saving them for a good reason.

They are going to be eaten at 9pm on Thursday night!!

That is half an hour after bedtime, and one hour before himself comes home from band practice and right at the beginning of Law and Order
