What are they called? Have a thread at each end and you use them to hold a pipe or tube with either a board and nuts at the ends or a plate and nuts. Does that make sense? They're for holding the uprights of a polytunnel.

I know what you mean, I can't think what they are called though.

Have you tried U shaped bolts?

Panic over: He's found them in the First Tunnels catalogue: they're called snake clamps. Now we all know what to use next time we find an illegally parked snake.

I know what you mean, but having just typed half a dozen terms into screwfix cannot see one of them

Thanks tons, Moggins and Jema: I knew someone here would know! The old chap was doing exactly what you did, Jema, with just as much success, so I said 'hang on a mo...' and lo and behold

Isn't Downsizer amazing?

Its not an exhaustpipe bracket? They come in different sizes, and are not just for exhaust pipes. Usually have a retaining plate with two holes for the U bolt, then held with nuts.

That too, Judy. the old chap is amazed at how this all works! They're being ordered from First Tunnels: much cheaper than Screwfix equivalents.
