I turn to the source of all recipe and cooking knowledge once again...

I want to make this nice looking drink

But only have condensed milk. And I'm out at work all day and feeling naff so not sure I'm up to boiling the tin for ages to make it in to toffee.

I could:

1. Go shopping again - but I didn't find the correct stuff the first time
2. Make it as it is
3. ask for help

so I'm asking for help. Can I make the condensed milk in to toffee in the slow cooker during the day? Or is there a quicker way of doing it in the evening? Or does anyone know where in the Stratton Swindon Sainsbury's to find the right stuff??(She says knowing that she's not the only Swindon-ite on the forum!) Or shall I just use condensed milk as it is?????

Thanks guy's you are all fab!

you can by ready boiled condensed milk. think it's called carnation caramel. Most supermarkets should stock it.

In the olden days Sainsbury's used to have jars of Dulce de Leche in their 'Special Selection' bit.

If you like those sorts of recipes, this thread with some foolproof liqueurs might also interest you.

My grandma used to make stuff like this every Christmas and keep it in the fridge. If we were really good she would let us have a taste.

if you do decide to make the toffee by boiling the milk in the tin in a ban marie DON'T LET THE PAN BOIL DRY. We still have bits of toffee in the holes in the cooker hood and it took us weeks to clean the celing and then we had to replace the floor after the stuff melted a hole in it.
