We currently make roman style mosaics - house plaques, tables etc and source our marble and granite from local yards where it is cut - there are skips full of the off-cuts (foc). Collecting some more materials this morning the boss suggested we take the piles of square and round pieces discarded after cutting holes for sinks etc. Apart from chopping boards, can anyone think of uses for these?

They vary in size but think - sink!

It seems such a shame that these will be put into landfill.

Suggestions or ideas welcome. Thanks.

Apart from chopping and pastry boards? Knock 'em out at a decent price for people here who'd love a nice big pastry board and I rekon that people would take your hand off to get one.

A friend of a friend has a deal with the local worktop manufacturer where they square off all their sink insets so he can use them as floor tiles.

I second the idea of pastry boards-I have a marble rolling pin with wooden handles, it is marvellous- so if any bits are that shape, go for it

As my husband was a stonemason for many years i have seen the waste and it is/was shameful; you want to see how much real stone crazy paving we have!! The marble and granite sink middles i must admit have made excellent infill/hardcore

They would make great engineers measuring tables if polished dead flat but probably not a great market for it. I would have thought the bathroom tile market would be profitable.

Or bases for record players, if large enough, though I know a few folk who use paving slabs.

Garden stepping stones. Fancy raised beds border (somebody posted a pic the other day of slabs used that way). Pet headstones.
