Of course, a laid back cat catches fewer birds/squeaky things. Its therefore environmentally *essential* that you keep you cat slightly tipsy. [adopts comedy Guru pose] 'It is the Downsizer way to bring mellow harmony to all creatures'

does it work on Children?

Dogs are a lot easier - you just stop feeding them so much - I'm told it also works on children (eventually) but people called social workers get very upppity about it!

Looks like one happy cat, anyways!

Makes you sound like the Lichenstein farmers who complained at being stopped feeding their cattle hemp

apparently the cows are more happy and relaxed that way

They are embarrassingly pathetic when given catnip, i have just bought the plant to see what i can do with it. Its quite amusing but i would not let mine out whilst "under the influence" he would walk straight under a car!!

This thread really brought a smile to my face and I am sure Tilly and Ringo would love them although it is difficult to see how they could be more laid back - both asleep in the garden with their paws in the air I want to come back as a well loved cat

"Cats can work out mathematically the exact place to sit that will cause most inconvenience."

If cats could talk, they wouldn't

A cat is there when you call her - if she doesn't have something better to do

A cat allows you to sleep on the bed. On the edge!

cats don't have owners they have staff"

A few classic quotes re. cats

Sally, I was looking at your website on Sunday and think these plague rats are a brilliant idea (bargain prices to boot) - ooh, I must add I also saw something very suitable for MIL (No - no a big plague rat!!!!!).

You are a clever girl, Sally!

isn't valerian what hitler was addicted to?

sounds like a great idea then as i am convinced my 7 cats are taking over my world.............

they look great sally and i may just have a go

or i may just leave bowls of valerian and catnip round where they can fall into them

Its far safer inside a toy, I've seen Hagl attack the postman to get at the triple wrapped bag of valerian when I have new stocks delivered, I dread to think what would happen if he had access to a whole bowl of the stuff!

Judith: I, too was wondering about "Make your own Plague rats"! It looks like I've just sorted the girls' Crhristmas presents, though. I'll order the herbs immediately...

My cats have an alternative to catnip: they have wrestling matches around the various ornamental grasses in the long borders. Hysterical: beautiful tussock of grass with a cat either side, arms surrounding the plant to get each other. Usually ends up with one victorious sprawled over the grass. Must take pics next time, no-one ever beleives me! I even asked the vet why they do it: she doesn't know either.

Well worth making, they usually last the cats a good year, and I've seen some that have been sucked into little sodden parcels, but which the cats still refuse to let go. Aim to use a heaped teaspoon of each herb and then use stuffing for the rest of the rat, and they are quite economical to do.
