This is just up the road from us and I am planning on wandering down to suss out the lie of the land about ten-ish, if anyone else fancies it. I think it's in someone's field, so no real tea-and-cake option, though.

I'll have a baby in a blue back-pack and a toddler screaming "I NO WANT TO DO THAT" either in a pink-and-brown buggy or running away from me ...

Common sense prevailed ( just). Too many just started or half finished projects to add chickens to the chaos quite yet.

We'll reward ourselves with hens when things are a bit more normal. If that ever happens

It was one of the nicest auctions I've been to in a while - it felt like a real smallholders' do and the birds were in good nick.

Oh that's good, Jo

Looking forward to being around to go to these types of things!

Common sense prevailed here, too - Jo's, mostly. When I muttered "We should probably make tracks now before they start selling the birds" she agreed enthusiastically and helped me get the children in to the car .

I agree, it was a very nice atmosphere. I will definitely be going again - the next one is in July - and hopefully will have some things to put in by then.

I could have come home with three pekin hens, a broody with seven guinea chicks and five saxony ducklings .

good move leaving before the sale! We did the same at the Sedgemoor Auction recently - need to get the housing sorted first after all!

Yes - we arrived as they were auctioning the eggs, which seemed to take AGES and didn't see any of the chickens going as we only popped in quickly to see what it was all about.

I know we should have looked out for you, but we weren't planning on going, it was a bit last minute - and we had no idea who to look for! Plus is was quite busy as I remember - all rather hectic!
