I love that the BBC point out that:

"If bees and other pollinators were to disappear completely, the cost to the UK economy could be up to £440m per year"

No need to mention the more fatal consequence to us all.

And see no correlation between the extinction of a mere stingy insect and the supermarket shelves being empty

I always think articles that mention economic cost are generally mre about drumming up financial support for research into bee....as in "they are worth (insert huge figure here)" so whyever can we not find $(insert smaller figure here) to save them?"
