Hi everyone.

Was given the link to this from someone on Freecycle, so thought I'd drop in and have a look.

We're trying to grow our own veg (learning the hard way at the moment) and I've got my mitts on a load of brewing and wine making kit, so we'll hopefully be producing some tasty beverages in the near future too.

Loving the look of the site, looks like huge amounts of useful info.

So hi everyone.

I believe so. If I said "we've got boxes of cherry plums and are trying to work out what to do with them" would that mean anything to you?

We're under orders to return when the apples and pears ripen, cider and perry anyone?

yep thats her, did you have to admire the lap-chicken
I made plum and chilli jam with those plums last year, am going to do a spicy plum chutney this year with the boxful I have.

Sally, why haven't you entered your mother in the 'Most Eccentric Parent' competition yet?

Haha the bantams are lovely Sally, but between you and me, there's not much of a meal on one is there!

As for the plums, we're trying wine from some, and the rest will end up in jams/chutneys galore!

I made the mistake of trying one raw, they're somewhat sharp!

too right, they arent eaters, but they cook up well and carry the flavour of other ingredients well.
I've been disowned at least twice for suggesting we make soup out of the surplus bantams
