Thanks DPack, I'll let him know. He did say about just relocating it further down the garden, away from where they sit. His wife is scared of them.

My brother has bumble bees that has set up shop in a birdbox. Will they all have gone by the winter or might the queen hibernate in there?

Hopefully things will just be a little late. Quite a few insects out and about yesterday and the swifts were doing the rounds in the sky last night and their eyesight is better than mine.

If I had the room down at the allotment I'd make a bed but alas, I do not. I think I need another allotment.
