Was conpemplating the cellar for this evenings bottle and realised that the pecking order worst to best was:

1) Cheapish supermarket wines, the type we buy at £3 a bottle.
2) Laithwaites "typical" wines we get via the national trust.
3) Beaverdale wine kits.
4) A toss up between the posher laithwaites wines or our own Elderberry wine.

It brings home to me that the image of home brew as iffy is really badly misplaced.

I'm enclined to agree. Foghorn's cider that he sent me was better in flavour and strength than a lot of stuff you'd pay £2.50 a pint for in a pub.

Best wine I ever made, was from a big pot of coffee powder I accidentally bought. Having realised the error, didn't want it as coffee, so made wine...It was a really tasty wine!!
