they often have peacocks offered at Newton market - we reckon the are the same ones that get returned each time the buyer discovered just how dang noisy peacocks are

Yes, I can see how that would be the case. They are so purty though - and the white ones are truly spectacular. I suppose they'd go pink in a day or two from the soil here, though

Since when have peacocks been 'shown'?
I'm only aware of poultry & waterfowl shows, never heard of game being shown.
No way I'd pay £45.00 for three eggs unless I could see the parents, witness them being laid & carry them home personally.
Their feedback is not that sharp either.

I'll be interested if I get taken to court for cockerels crowing.

That might have been me

Have just cleaned up the incy after hatching a batch of chicks (aka timewasters) - but it hasn't been put away yet...

Thanks Chez, will see if they have any more....

However, there may be more...

It's a *lot* to pay for eBay eggs - I'm with Tav really, there's no way I'd pay that much for eggs from an unknown source. I do happen to know a lady who keeps two or three pairs of 'ordinary' peacocks, though

There is, of course, no guarantee that the eggs will produce peacocks

As opposed to peahens

Nothing like as pretty - though relatively somewhat quieter

Our peacock shacked up with one of our stag turkeys, he refused to be caught and would roost in the tree at the top of the field, him the stag turkey and one of our legbar cross cockerels. He would wander over to the school's coppice and shout all blinking day!

Peahens are much quieter
