I'm wondering what to use to filter the oil that I'll be making.
Instinctively I don't think the type of filters I use for waste oil are suitable, but logically, I cannot think how they are fundamentally different from cheese cloths and suchlike.

Filtering is not just a physical barrier process. Some are hydrophobic, some are hydrophilic.

It's a thought. Where can I get really big filter papers from?

Ten times bigger than a normal coffee filter?
4' wide?

I think the definition is fairly flexible, but it gives the order of magnitude: I don't need one a mile wide.

Chip shop filtration suppliers. The ones that work uses are about 18" diameter but they come in different sizes.

Have a google for Camlab filter papers. We have them in that order of size. Let me know an ill grab prices.

Eg https://www.camlab.co.uk/general-purpose-filter-papers-grade-601-no-1-equivalent-p18461.aspx

Depends how much filtering (size of particle) you want to do.

Everything on that page seems to be for particulates 5-13 µm... I have had a bit of a rummage around that site, and I've not yet found anything more suitable.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

I doubt you'll get filter paper that fine. Let me have a hunt. Oil, sub micron, large volume?
