My knowledge of mobile phone stuff is skimpy so this may be one of those 'fools rush in' responses. If so, be gentle, clever people.
I've been looking for a new phone too, and thought the efficiency of my phone reception at home was poor because of the model I had, and that I could buy something that would allow me to speak to customers in my studio, rather than halfway up the garden path - what with the cold wet time of year approaching.
The first thing I did was look up the coverage in our village with our Vodaphone contract https://ask.ofcom.org.uk/help/telephone/mobilecoverage. Though inputting our postcode led to a marker in a remote part of the moors a mile away, with great reception, looking at our hamlet the service was pretty awful, 2G at a level that wouldn't work indoors - except a small patch of 3G halfway up the garden path! Other providers appeared to have better coverage but my contract still has 9 months to run. I could buy a booster but I'd need one for the house and one for the studio at £100 each. And as the competing mobile phone masts are within a few yards of each other, three miles away, I don't know how much I can rely on the other phone companies claims. |
